  2. Instructions for installing 1.05 via Newton Connection kit for Windows or Macintosh
  3. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  5. NOTE:  You need to sycnhronize Newton Connection before installing the update.
  6.  
  7. 1.     Connect your personal computer to your Newton.  (See your Newton Connection     manual for instructions.) 
  8.  
  9. 2.  On your personal computer, open Newton Connection.
  10.  
  11. 3.  Synchronize and back up the information in your Newton using Newton            Connection.
  12.         
  13. WARNING : Installing System Update 1.05 will erase all information in your
  14. Newton. You must back up your information BEFORE installing the update.
  15.  
  16. 4.  After you synchronize and back up your information, click Install Package.
  17.  
  18. 5.  In the box that appears, locate and select "Update 1.05 for Connection"       and then click OK.
  19.      
  20. 6.  On your Newton, open the Extras Drawer and tap Connection.
  21.  
  22. 7.  Tap the type of connection you are making between Newton and the personal       computer, and then tap Connect.
  23.      
  24. 8.  Newton will ask if you have backed up your information, because installing
  25.        the update will erase your information.  If you have made a backup, tap OK.
  26.  
  27. 9.  Newton asks you to confirm that you have backed up your information. Tap
  28.     OK. The update is installed.
  29.  
  30.     Once the update is installed, your Newton will restart.
  31.  
  32. 10.    Follow the instructions that ask you to tap several Xs on your Newton     screen.
  33.  
  34. 11.    On your personal computer, click OK in the box telling you that
  35.        installation was successful.
  36.  
  37. 12.    Click Restore. In the box that appears, locate and select your backup
  38.        file to restore your information.
  39.  
  40.        That's it. You've installed the system update and restored the information
  41.     in your Newton.
  42.  
  43.     The version number at the bottom of Prefs should now be 1.05.
  44.  
  45.     Make sure you reset the date and time in the Date and Time preferences.
